e5 supports open standards in electronic content like EPUB or HTML that may also be interactive or contain multi-media components. The content units, for example an eBook or the issue of a magazine, is then stored in a repository, wrapped with a Digital Rights Management layer and shipped to the customers device either through a Wi-Fi, 3G or standard Internet connection. The e5 platform provides features for account management and payment solution.

e5 basically consists of a content server, a digital rights management system, a payment solution, a customer management solution, different device clients (e.g. iPhone or iPad) and a web shop. All components are built in a modular way and can be deactivated if not requested by the customer. The communication between the components works through a set of standard API calls. This architecture allows us to quickly adapt the solution to the needs of the individual client.
